How we got here.
We rewrote this so many times! Every version sounded like a résumé, and you are not hiring. So here's the rundown, trying to keep it real.
We're Matt and Mookie. We're coming up on 10 years of marriage. We met at UVU in 2012, where we became good friends. We didn't start dating until 2016, when Mookie came home from serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Like Matt said in a letter to Mookie in 2014, "The two of us being friends will only ever bring joy to one another." How true that has proven. Our love has grown stronger and stronger with every passing year and every challenge we've faced together.
We live in a beautiful community tucked up close to the mountains in northern Utah, where there is plenty for any kid to do. There are four parks within a block of our house, a splash pad, a skate park, a community pool, and plenty of neighborhood kids running around.
Our son, Ollie, is seven and has always wanted a sibling. He is going to make the best big brother. He absolutely loves babies and already has such a protective nature toward them.
Our family also includes two little girls we carry with us in a different way. We lost our daughter Jovi in 2021 and our daughter Aurora in 2024. They will always be part of our family and our story. Their lives were far too short, but they changed us forever and taught us a depth of love we didn't know was possible.
We're not going to tell you we're perfect people. Matt forgets stuff easily, and Mookie gets overwhelmed when the house gets too cluttered. We are, however, extremely good at showing up.
Whatever you decide, and whoever you decide it with, we wish you peace on your journey. We're grateful for the possibility of being a part of it, in whatever way you determine.
There's room here for one more.
If you're here because you're pregnant and looking for an adoptive family, we're really glad you found us. There's no pressure here, and there's no wrong way to reach out. You don't have to have everything figured out — we'd simply love the chance to talk, answer questions, and get to know you.
No obligation. No follow-up unless you ask.
It goes to both of us and nobody else.
