MLP Cache Valley, Utah
A letter, left open

Dear friend,

We rewrote this six times. Every version sounded like a résumé, and you are not hiring. So here's the plain one.

We're Matt and Mookie. Ten years married this November. We live in a valley in northern Utah where the mountains turn pink around 8pm and the whole town smells like cut grass in July. Our son Ollie is seven and has asked for a sibling every single day since he learned the word.

We're not going to tell you we're perfect people. Matt loses his keys daily. Mookie draws enormous chalk murals in the middle of the street and comes home covered in blue. We are, however, extremely good at showing up.

Whatever you decide, and whoever you decide it with — we hope somebody is being gentle with you today.

How we got here

Ten years, one kid, and a door that keeps staying open.

We met young, married a little later, and built a quiet, full life in the same valley we both love. Ollie came along and made it louder in the best way. For a while now we've known there's room here for one more — so we're doing the brave, hopeful thing and putting that out into the world.

If you're reading this because you're pregnant and thinking hard, we're glad you found us. There's no pressure here, and no wrong way to reach out.
